DEERFIELD — State Senator Julie Morrison (D-Lake Forest) released the following statement after the Senate passage of the Fiscal Year 2027 spending plan:
“Putting together a responsible state budget is never easy, and this year was no different. Tight revenues and uncertain federal support made it a difficult year, but we produced a budget that reflects our priorities and serves the people of Illinois – one that focuses on public safety, bolsters health care protections and prioritizes the needs of our older adults.
“By continuing investments into our health care system, bolstering law enforcement recruitment and increasing wages for direct service professionals, it is clear that we are putting Illinoisans first.
“Through this spending plan, we are holding the Trump Administration accountable and fighting back against their steadfast efforts to raise prices for everyday Illinoisans by pausing the gas tax increase and lowering sales tax on school supplies. Illinoisans deserve continued investment – and this plan does just that.”
